introduction
Le Bon Marché, a historic Parisian institution and flagship of the luxury world, began a major e-commerce shift with the redesign and global relaunch of its digital storefront, lebonmarche.com, in 2022. In a sector where operational excellence and attention to detail are absolute, the transition to a new architecture, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, represented a major strategic milestone for the Omnichannel E-commerce department.
To compensate for an unexpected internal absence at the most critical point in the schedule and ensure that milestones were met, Le Bon Marché called on Numendo. Through the involvement of Lisa, a senior consultant, this partnership quickly became a source of operational reassurance. The objective was clear: integrate a highly qualified profile capable of bridging the technical requirements of the platform with the business sensitivity specific to a major luxury house.
Context
The relaunch of lebonmarche.com was part of a historically complex project, marked by iterative scoping phases and a particularly tight schedule. Arriving in a project context that was already very advanced and under strong operational pressure, the omnichannel team — then composed of only two people — had to orchestrate a two-stage launch: an initial institutional launch, followed by the full deployment of e-commerce.
To support this trajectory effectively without overloading internal teams’ day-to-day work, the choice was made to bring in an external reinforcement who could be operational immediately. This instant autonomy made it possible to quickly structure contribution flows and streamline all functional exchanges.
The implementation of our new e-commerce site was an iterative and complex project. Lisa’s arrival through Numendo was a true operational relief for my teams. Beyond her obvious skills on our tools, it was above all her experience and professional posture that made the difference. In the luxury industry, our internal teams are extremely demanding; a senior and autonomous profile like hers immediately gains legitimacy, provides reassurance, and allows us to move forward without having to manage the hidden costs or guesswork of a more junior profile. The recruitment process with Numendo was highly responsive, very smooth administratively, and the human as well as technical matching proved to be perfect. It is without hesitation the collaboration that went best in recent years, and the organization I reach out to first for our expert needs.
Challenges
Numendo’s intervention stabilized and energized the functional webmastering scope around three key areas:
• Controlled operational duality: handling daily configuration on Salesforce Commerce Cloud while acting as close support for e-commerce, merchandising, and content teams.
• Translating needs into technical trajectories: taking on the functional Product Owner dimension by translating business requests into clear user stories and managing essential testing phases before each deployment.
• Reassuring historical teams: operating within a highly demanding internal ecosystem, where legitimacy is earned through posture, maturity, and the ability to minimize production errors as much as possible.
Delivery
Carried out over a year and a half, Lisa’s mission became a true partnership in tandem with Vincent Gastellier, Product Manager for Le Bon Marché & La Grande Épicerie de Paris. This long-term support made it possible to complete the project through several structuring stages.
1. Stabilizing contribution and multi-site support
From the moment Lisa arrived, she took charge of platform configuration for Le Bon Marché while also providing support for La Grande Épicerie de Paris. Her experienced profile enabled her to train, support, and empower internal contributors, transforming a complex run phase into a smooth process.
2. Structuring the functional chain: webmastering and PO
Beyond pure contribution, the role quickly evolved into a hybrid Product Owner dimension. By managing the interface with integrators and developers through precise tickets and anomaly tracking, Numendo absorbed the technical workload and secured e-commerce deliverables.
3. Immediate cultural integration within the luxury ecosystem
The true added value of the setup lay in the consultant’s posture. Faced with legitimately demanding internal teams with little tolerance for approximation, Lisa’s professional maturity acted as a source of calm and rigor, allowing management teams to delegate with complete confidence.
Results
Despite a globally complex initial project start, commitments on the scope entrusted to Numendo were rigorously met:
• Deployment schedule respected: the launch split, first storefront and then e-commerce, was secured without compromising customer experience quality.
• No hidden training costs: choosing a senior profile avoided the pitfalls of heavy managerial supervision, maximizing the ROI of the service from the first weeks.
• A long-term relationship: as proof of maximum satisfaction, the collaboration continued and was repeated, with the profile later re-engaged by the house on other scopes.
