In a previous article about ReactEurope we told you that the United States is not the only place with great conferences: we can confirm that by telling you about DotJS, the European JavaScript event.
An event about JavaScript frameworks in Paris
The JS-friendly event will take place on 9 November 2018 in Paris (Dock Pullman, 87 Avenue des Magasins Généraux, Building 137, Aubervilliers, 93300). It is the biggest JavaScript conference in Europe; last year it brought together 1,400 participants and speakers working for Netflix, Microsoft, LinkedIn and even the creator of JavaScript (Brendan Eich).
International speakers
For its 7th edition, the conference is welcoming 10 speakers; among them are:
Christophe Porteneuve
Founder and CTO of Delicious Insights, a partner company of the event that offers front-end oriented training. An author, speaker, developer and JavaScript expert on Node.js, Git and Rails technologies.
Anders Hejlsberg
Software architect and project lead at Microsoft, coming from Seattle to share expertise on TypeScript. Also the original designer of C#, Delphi and Turbo Pascal.
Myles Borins
TSC Director of Node.js and also Developer Advocate for Google Cloud.
Sacha Greif
An independent designer and developer living in Kyoto (Japan). Co-author of the book Discover Meteor and creator of VulcanJS, a full-stack framework that makes it possible to build web applications quickly, based on React and GraphQL.
Devon Lindsey
A software engineer at Apple and organiser of ReactJS meetups in San Francisco. Also an advocate, working to promote the developer community by championing its diversity and its freedom.
And plenty of others…
The conference will be organised into different 1.5-hour presentation sessions, punctuated by several 30-minute breaks. The last talk will finish at 6.10pm and will give way to a cocktail reception.
Training courses on JavaScript frameworks
The event also offers various training sessions on frameworks such as GraphQL or Vue.js, delivered by partner companies of the event.
HackCamp course: Vue.js training from 6 to 8 November 2018
Victor Bury and Bouba Siddighi from Hackages, a training company, will be the two specialists in charge of teaching the front-end framework. The aim of these three days is to get to grips with the Vue.js front-end framework, popular for building user interfaces as well as for how easy it is to pick up. More information on the training page.
GraphQL training: 2 days for 2 levels
These are in fact two separate training courses. Xavier Cazalot, a front-end software engineer at OK GROW!, will deliver both of them.
- Training on the fundamentals — 7 November 2018
The aim of this session will be to learn the GraphQL language and understand how to implement it in an application in order to unify all your data sources into a single, intuitive API. You will also cover GraphQL concepts in the context of an application using React on the front end and Apollo Server on the back end.
- Advanced training — 8 November 2018
This course is aimed at developers who are already familiar with building applications with GraphQL and with basic application architecture. The aim is to improve the performance of your GraphQL by mastering the latest techniques and tools.
You are not bilingual but you want to deepen your JavaScript skills
The event is certainly French; however, the majority of the talks are in English, and so are the two previous training courses. Not a problem: the event also offers a three-day session in French to learn ECMAScript (JavaScript) from 5 to 7 November 2018. The training will be delivered by Christophe Porteneuve, the CTO of Delicious Insights.
