For its 14th consecutive edition, the Paris Web event returns this year with more than forty talks on the programme. This 2019 edition will take place from 10 to 12 October at the SUP’Internet school in Paris.
3 intense days for all web enthusiasts to discover at Paris Web 2019
Paris Web means a multitude of talks held over two days (Thursday 10 and Friday 11 October), followed by workshops running from 9.30 am to 5.50 pm on Saturday 12 October. 52 speakers will share their experience and run the workshops. We are suggesting three typical conference tracks: one for front-end developers, one for back-end developers, and one for fans of more advanced technologies. The choice is yours!
A track for front-end developers
For you, the website interface pros, attend these talks to stay up to date with the latest news.
How to structure your CSS code properly
A 30-minute mini-talk, presented by Corinne Durrmeyer. To address the problem of organising CSS code, a methodology invented by Harry Roberts will be presented: ITCSS (Inverted Triangle CSS). At last, a simple but effective method!
Hand-coded SVG: even you can do it
A 3-hour workshop, run by Jérémie Patonnier. You will learn that coding in SVG is not as complicated as people say. A workshop in three parts to understand the specifics of SVG and learn how to add CSS and JS to it. Say goodbye to vector drawing software!
Webpack workshop
A 1.5-hour workshop, delivered by Antoine Caron. Whether you are a novice or experienced, this workshop will adapt to your skill level. Through exercises of varying difficulty, build up your mastery of Webpack.
A track for back-end developers
For you, the development and programming language enthusiasts, here are some technical talks you are going to like!
Does your web API pass the 60-point technical inspection?
A 50-minute talk, presented by François-Guillaume Ribreau. Lessons learned from major global companies, to help you avoid repeating the same mistakes when developing an API. 70 points will be examined to give you all the keys!
Living with algorithms
A 1.5-hour workshop, delivered by the Datadada Girls. Does a smart toothbrush ring any bells? Come and build your own artificial intelligence with the Datadada Girls.
Code your own OpenID Connect server
A 3-hour workshop, run by Gilles Ballini and Stéphane Herman. What if now were the time to learn how to build your own OpenID Connect authentication server? Node.js or PHP developers, give it a go. A workshop in two parts, with a bonus at the end for the best participants.
A track for those curious about specific technologies
Finally, if you are a fan of all things slightly niche technology-wise, you are in the right place. Over these three days, several such technologies will be presented — talks that promise to be interesting and enriching!
Performance: what happens after the back end?
A 30-minute mini-talk, presented by Jean-Pierre Vincent. Performance is an essential parameter for today’s websites. Come and discover the methods to put in place to improve this criterion and get to grips with the must-have performance tool of the moment. An opportunity not to be missed!
Decentralised web applications
A 30-minute mini-talk, delivered by Vincent Ogloblinsky. In an idealistic world, people have full control over their data, run no risk of censorship and can access any application. Take part in this mini-talk to realise that this world may not be so far away. With a little knowledge, a peer-to-peer-based protocol and a hint of JavaScript, it could become reality.
Create your first WebExtension and enrich the browsing experience
A 1.5-hour workshop, run by Thierry Régagnon. Understanding what a browser extension is and learning how to create one are the two points covered in this workshop.
