At Numendo, we believe that a company is built not only on technical skills, but also on people’s life journeys. Internal mobility is not just another line in the list of benefits at Numendo: it is a strong commitment to enabling every employee to develop their career in line with their wishes, their plans and their personal balance.
In this article we share our vision of internal mobility, the principles that guide it at Numendo, and one concrete example: that of Tiphanys, an experienced quality consultant who chose to leave Paris for Geneva and to take on a new challenge in the luxury watchmaking sector.
Internal mobility: a driver of engagement and retention
In a context where the tech job market is tight, and where talent expectations are shifting towards more meaning, autonomy and flexibility, companies like ours have to rethink the way they support professional careers. Internal mobility therefore stands out as an answer to these challenges:
- It makes it possible to make the most of existing skills rather than systematically looking outside.
- It encourages retention by showing that the company trusts its people.
- It boosts motivation by offering concrete prospects for progression or change.
- It limits the risk of disengagement and loss of interest, which are often linked to a feeling of stagnation.
But for it to genuinely work, internal mobility has to rest on a clear, transparent policy carried by all the stakeholders — HR, managers, leadership, but also and above all by employees themselves.
Our HR policy at Numendo: bridges, not barriers
Since we were founded, we at Numendo have opted for a model that puts closeness, transparency and flexibility first. Those values run through our approach to human resources.
Internal mobility is an integral part of our DNA. In practical terms, that means:
- Opportunities that are open with no geographical silos: our people can move between our entities in Paris, Mulhouse and Geneva.
- An approach that is offered, not imposed, on the basis of volunteering and mutual interest.
- Individualised support, with discussions beforehand to help people plan ahead, anticipate the personal and professional impacts and make the change secure.
- Recognition of soft skills as much as technical skills: adaptability, a desire to learn, client-facing composure — all levers that make mobility possible.
Encouraging internal mobility means strengthening loyalty, trust and mutual progress. Tiphanys’s example shows just how meaningful these dynamics can be.
Tiphanys’s project: a mobility that was planned, chosen and successful
Tiphanys joined Numendo in 2021, in Paris, having been recommended by a former colleague. Quickly onboarded onto an assignment at a major luxury house, she developed her skills there as a quality (QA) consultant in a highly digital environment strongly focused on user experience, web and mobile.
“I joined an assignment that matched my profile and my aspirations perfectly.”
For three years she threw herself into the work with high standards and curiosity. It was at a seminar organised in Barcelona that she met the Swiss team, which had recently been set up in the heart of Geneva. The conversation was stimulating, and it echoed something she had already mentioned during her annual review: the wish to work with Switzerland one day.
A few months later, in January 2025, that wish found a concrete outlet. A Swiss client expressed a need, in a world that was completely new to Tiphanys: luxury watchmaking.
“The project intrigued me straight away. It was a challenge, in a new setting, with a strong technical dimension.”
After open discussions with her manager and the leadership team, Tiphanys chose mobility. A change of life, from Paris to Geneva — supported, structured, but above all wanted.
Changing context, broadening skills
This geographical change came with a change of professional paradigm. In Paris, Tiphanys worked in a very digital environment. In Geneva, she joined a client in the watchmaking sector, working on complex business software linked to extremely high-precision industrial processes.
“You go from a world of consumer applications to tools that have a direct impact on physical products. It’s a different kind of rigour, but just as fascinating.”
She now works alongside a wide variety of specialist profiles: technical draughtspeople, manufacturing staff, engineers. This closeness to the reality of the product allows her to broaden her range of skills and enrich her stance as a consultant.
“I’ve gained in technical maturity, but also in my understanding of industrial challenges. That’s a real plus in my career.”
Mobility also means balance
Changing site is not just changing desk. It is also a personal decision, one that affects everyday life. Tiphanys is fully aware of that.
“I took the time to talk it over with my family and to think. This kind of transition has to be carefully thought through.”
Today she has found a balance. Tiphanys talks about the quality of life in Switzerland, the landscapes and the calm, but also about the pride of having taken that step consciously.
“It’s a breath of fresh air. I live differently, I work differently. I can feel myself progressing on every level.”
A message to those who are hesitating
Asked what advice she would give to other Numendo employees, Tiphanys does not play down what is involved:
“You have to take the time to assess the overall impact. It’s not just changing assignment, it’s sometimes changing your pace of life. But if it’s well prepared, it’s hugely rewarding.”
She also stresses the cultural and legal reality of cross-border mobility: salaries, taxation, rhythms — all things to understand in order to make an informed choice. Here again, Numendo’s HR support makes the difference.
What this story says about our company culture
Tiphanys’s experience is not an isolated case, but an example of what we want to make available to everyone: the possibility of developing your career within Numendo, in line with your aspirations.
For us, that comes down to:
- actively listening to individual needs and plans;
- real, concrete opportunities at every level;
- management that supports transitions;
- a culture of trust and agility.
Because Numendo’s growth rests first and foremost on the growth of its people, we believe that growing together comes through trust and the freedom to build your own path. Every internal move illustrates this dynamic, in which commitment, curiosity and openness come together.
Conclusion: choose, move, grow
Tiphanys’s journey shows that successful internal mobility rests on an alignment between individual desire, an assignment opportunity and support from the company.
At Numendo, we want to allow everyone to rely on a structure that supports without constraining, in particular thanks to structured, personalised support from all stakeholders. Because behind every assignment there is a human trajectory, a personal ambition, and a company that believes in the strength of the collective.
