A new innovation has just come to light! After VRChat, the social network dedicated to VR, former Mozilla employees have just created a 100% VR browser! So what does such a browser offer? That is what we are going to find out in this article!
A native web browser you can use with your VR headset
Exploring the frontages of the web in virtual reality — that is the challenge developers Kevin Ngo, Diego Marcos and Diego Goberna have set themselves. With SuperMedium, you will be able to move from one VR project to another by typing URLs just like in a real browser! The devices available to use it are the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift.
This project hopes to offer 3D sites developed thanks to the WebVR framework. But for the time being, only projects built with the A-Frame framework are available.
Virtual reality content is published as standard websites, so it will not take minutes to load as has been the case up to now, but only a few seconds!

“A dozen sites today, millions tomorrow” — that is the central phrase adopted by the browser released on 1 February 2018! While the platform offering the most VR content to date is Steam, SuperMedium intends to steal the show and become the virtual reality platform of tomorrow.

SuperMedium already hosts several VR sites on varied themes such as games, art, music, social and even journalism: where will we find your site?
SuperMedium: a project in good company
As I mentioned earlier, HTC and Oculus VR have granted SuperMedium the rights to run the applications. But the most interesting part is that Y Combinator believed in the project straight away and did not hesitate to provide seed funding for the 3 developers.
As you will have gathered, the browser is barely a few days old, but it is developing at great speed. The company hopes soon to add Microsoft to its list of partners, along with support for Microsoft MR.
